Your air conditioner is made up of several components which need to be regularly checked to ensure they’re all functioning properly. Our team will go through the system, part by part, to make sure there are no issues with the compressor, drive belt, and air filter. We also inspect to ensure there are no refrigerant leaks, and to see if the refrigerant needs recharged. If an issue is detected in any part of the AC, our team will advise you on a recommended course of action so you can make an informed decision about the repair of your vehicle.

In theory, yes, but we don’t recommend it. There are several home AC recharge kits available on the market which allow you to attempt to recharge the refrigerant yourself. However, many of these kits use dangerous, explosive compressed gasses, and most don’t use your vehicle’s recommended refrigerant. The team here at Downtown Hyundai will always make sure the correct refrigerant for your vehicle is being used, and the recharge can be done safely by trained professionals in a controlled environment.

As with all regular maintenance, that depends on how often your vehicle is being used, and how often the AC is being run. We recommend you get it checked at least once per year, during your regular spring or summer service appointment. If any issues are detected, such as your AC failing to blow cool air, or unusual odours coming from the vents, you should book your vehicle in for an inspection as soon as possible.
